In 2007, an interest group of ladies came together in the spring semester to attempt to form a chapter. By the fall semester of 2007 they met with the National Extension Team of Alpha Sigma Tau and chose to become a part of their organization.
The spring semester of 2008 was the first semester of colonization.
The original nine girls recruited four new members to bring the group total to thirteen by the end of the semester. Throughout the fall 2008 semester the young women brought in many new recruits.
On May 9, 2009 the sorority was installed and recognized as the Epsilon Iota Chapter with a total of 28 new sisters (the largest colony to be installed to date with Alpha Sigma Tau nationals!).
The sorority continually looks to bring more young women into their organization that exemplify the standards of what it means to be an Alpha Sigma Tau. During each semester Alpha Sigma Tau Epsilon Iota holds recruitment weeks where there are multiple informationals which interested ladies get to understand what the organization looks for, what it can do for them, the purpose of the organization, philanthropic aspect, academic integrity and a break down of the financial aspects.
Alpha Sigma Tau Epsilon Iota focuses on preparing their members for the professional field in all different aspects. The organization is based on academics, where each week academic triumphs are recognized no matter how small or little they may be.
